## How to scan and save a receipt

Morgan AI can read a receipt photo and automatically extract the vendor name and amount, so recording expenses is as fast as taking a picture.

## Scanning a receipt

1. Open Morgan AI and tap **+ > Scan receipt**
2. Point your camera at the receipt and tap the capture button (or tap **Upload** to use a photo from your camera roll)
3. Morgan AI scans the receipt and fills in:
   - Vendor name
   - Total amount
   - Date (when readable)
4. Review the extracted information, correct anything that was misread
5. Select an expense category
6. Tap **Save**

The receipt image is saved alongside the expense record, so you have a digital copy.

## Tips for better receipt scans

- Lay the receipt flat on a contrasting surface (a dark table works well for white receipts)
- Make sure the whole receipt is in frame
- Good lighting helps, avoid shadows across the text
- If the receipt is crumpled, flatten it before scanning

## What if the scan isn't accurate?

Morgan AI's scanning is accurate for most clear receipts, but it can struggle with:
- Very long or faded thermal receipts
- Handwritten receipts
- Receipts with small or stylized fonts

If the extraction isn't right, just correct the fields manually before saving. The receipt image is still saved for your records.

## Viewing saved receipts

Every expense with a scanned receipt shows a small camera icon. Tap the expense to see the full receipt image.

## Why saving receipts matters

Having digital copies of your receipts means you can:
- Verify expense records if questioned
- Provide documentation to your accountant at tax time
- Keep records even if the paper receipt fades or gets lost
